♥ Tank: LC, Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
♥ Tank (Underneath): Espirit, thrifted
♥  Skirt: Express, thrifted
♥ Shoes: Roxy

♥ Bracelets: Hand-me-Down from Mom

I wore this outfit on Friday (4/26) to go get my Texas driver's license (I'm a official citizen of Texas, y'all.  Hehe, just kidding...about the y'all part) and study.  I'm a little embarrassed that I bought this Lauren Conrad top from Kohl's.  I don't really like giving my hard earned dollars to someone who is famous for no reason (I admit though that I loved Laguna Beach -- love Kristen!), but I thought this top was really cute and so different from everything I own!  This skirt, like yesterday's was a little short, but I think I need to get over my shyness of showing my legs.  Besides, it's only 10 years before I hit 35 and according to What Not to Wear, no mini skirts after 35!

I know I've been slacking on the tunes the last few posts, but all my music is on an external hard drive, which is nowhere to be seen.  It's lost somewhere in the gigantic mess that is my house.  I'll find it though and post a few songs at once.  Have a great Thursday everyone (my Friday!)!  I'm about to eat some ice cream and watch a movie on instant stream netflix, or possibly catch up on my TiVo if nothing strikes my fancy!

This outfit is from Tuesday (4/20).  I love this shirt.  It's a vintage tourist shirt that says "Gutentag Berlin" and it's oh so soft!  I wore this to classes and didn't do much else!  Sadly, I don't really remember what I did that day, so I don't really know what to say.  I'm already 3 days behind in my posting.  I'm feeling a little swamped with school since there's only 1 week left before finals.  Hopefully I can catch up before the end of the week!  Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Sunday Roundup

I apologize for the slacking (already).  Last week I was swamped with tests and this week, well I don't have an excuse except for laziness.  I only got 1 outfit photo and it hasn't even left my camera yet.  Hehe.  Anyway, I hope to be back this week.

So, on Sunday I would like to post outfits from other bloggers that caught my eye this week.  I want to start sifting through Wardrobe Remix and post those best of outfits too, but we'll see when that happens!

I just love the California casual chic that she is constantly pulling off.  I'm from California and I don't even pull it off!  I love it from head to toe, especially those shoes!

I love her self described "Rizzo/Pink Ladies" outfit.  I think I might have to look into getting some black capri's because I think I'm in love!

I recently discovered this blog and it is amazing.  This girl has the style I've always wanted.  I love, love, love the vintage 50s/rockabilly vibe, but I can't really pull it off (and I have tons of pictures to prove it when I was going through my rockabilly stage).  This was my favorite of the week though, so gorgeous.

Katy is one of my favorite bloggers.  I love that she shops at thrift stores and TJ Maxx and still looks like a million bucks.  I absolutely adore her plaid shirt and I'm on the hunt for one I can call my own!  I also love the mix of yellow and baby blue.  So cute!

*sigh* Another girl who is effortlessly cool!  I always feel like I put a lot of work into getting dressed while she looks like she literally rolls out of bed looking fabulous.  *jealous*

This winter the Gap had a boyfriend blazer on sale for $28 (down from $99).  I didn't have the money to spend at the time and I didn't want to put it on my credit card, so I passed it up.  When I went back to get it, it was gone and I have been kicking myself ever since!  It was gorgeous and fit me perfectly and I'm so mad at myself!  Arg.  Anyway, Jessica at WIW is actually one of the first bloggers I began to follow.  I love this casual chic outfit she has here.  Lately people have been sporting clogs and suddenly I realized that I need some clogs in my life.  So, we can add that to the unending list of stuff I need to buy.

Anyway, I hope that everyone had a good week and hopefully posting will go back to normal.

Soooo, I didn't post my outfit yesterday because I either came down with a 24 hour stomach flu or I ate some bad shrimp.  Whatever the reason I spent Tuesday night throwing up and all of Wednesday feeling pitiful and weak.  I did manage to squeeze in a thrifting trip, which I'll post about later (stuff is washing now).

Well, I wasn't feeling 100% today, but had to go to my classes anyway (quizzes and the like) and  I also woke up a little late and took too long to get ready (again) and I had to rush out the door without being able to take any pictures.  It was so windy (hence the indoor pics) I'm surprised my mini pomp lasted until I was able to take these pics (it looked awesome this morning all teased up!).  I wasn't really feeling too great about this outfit when I left the house.  It didn't think it looked bad and I was extremely comfortable, but I didn't think I looked great.  Now that I see these pics I'm in total agreement that this one was a miss.  I knew I looked ultra casual, but I thought that the necklace, hair, and shoes would put enough visual interest into the outfit that it would make up for the neutral colors.  I think that it should have been the sweater or the jeans, but not both.  It's just TOO casual and I don't often dress this casual.

These shoes are evil.  I'm trying to justify keeping them since I'm going through my entire wardrobe and trying to get rid of stuff I don't like/wear anymore for my big garage sale (which has been pushed back 3 times).  I wore them last week and they gave me a scab on my middle toe and today they drew blood.  I think they're really cute and interesting, but I wonder if all they need is breaking in or if they'll always hurt.  Lastly, I love this necklace.  It's such a statement piece.  I think it really can dress up an otherwise boring outfit, although today it didn't really.  Well, that's what's good about having this blog.  Even if not a single soul reads it besides me, I'll know which outfits look great outside of the mirror and which ones I should tweak to make them more interesting.

So, last night I watched The Hangover.  I think that it's one of those movies that you had to see before all the hype about it happened.  Like, if you were the first person to see it, it would be super awesome and funny, but watching it X amount of months after the movie has been on dvd (netflix has had it on very long wait for, like, ever) you've been poisoned.  You're expecting the most amazing and funny movie ever and there is no way it can live up to that.  That's how I felt about it anyway.  I had a few good laughs, but it wasn't amazing.  What WAS amazing, however, was the song sung by Stu to put the tiger to sleep.  I immediately downloaded the song and listened to it a bunch today.  So, for today's song of the day I share with you "Stu's Song".

I bless the rains down in Africa/Gonna take some time to do the things we never have*

♥ Headband: Forever 21

Sadly, I took a little too long to get ready this morning and had to rush out the door.  I tried snapping a few pics outside, but it was way too windy and dark and all the pics came out lousy.  So, I assure you I looked a lot fresher this morning.  These pics are after a long day of nonstop classes and then a trip to the grocery store for dinner.  Fortunately, in the evening the sun hits my bedroom just right leaving perfect amount of light for indoor pics.  It's nice to know that I finally found a good place to take pictures indoors (as long as my room's clean, haha).

I really love these leggings, but sometimes I feel a little self conscious when I wear them.  They're pretty bold for me.  Most of the time I don't give it a second thought, but every once in a while I look down and think "Who am I kidding?".  Today was a day that I didn't give it any thought though.  Plus some random fella at the grocery store gave me a thumbs up.  Haha.  This is kind of my "go to" (I swear I won't say that again) outfit.  I wear this black dress often all year round.  I layer it up in the winter and throw on some gladiator sandals and jewelry in the summer.  I'll also be excited on pairing it with my new fedora (last worn on Easter) with it as well.  I also love to wear these leggings because they are not only comfortable, but often a conversation piece.  I think it's the most complimented item I own.  These kitten heel sandals and gold necklace go with everything and I wear them a lot as well.  The headband is new though.  I have a very tiny, very round head that headbands slip off of all the time.  I pinned the heck out of it though, so it only migrated a little bit.  So, everything I'm wearing besides the headband are all things I wear a lot.  You should probably prepare yourself to see them a lot more if you plan on sticking around (which I hope you do).

Anyway, today's song of the day HAD to be "Africa" by Toto because of these leggings.  One of my personal favorites and the song that Z hates the most when I sing it in the car because of the change of octave in the chorus. Lucky for you guys it's the actual song and not me singing it ^_^ Enjoy!

Counting flowers on the wall/That don't bother me at all*

♥ Tank: Aeropostale
♥ Skirt: Expresso
♥ Cardigan: Mossimo, Target
♥ Shoes: No Label, thrifted

Z was home today, so I had a photographer today. The giant flowers on my skirt reminded me so much of the Statler Brothers song "Flowers on the Wall" that I ended up humming it all day long, so what better song to post!  Today I had "Eat Lunch with the Dean" meeting today.  I wasn't sure how formal it was supposed to be, so I opted for a slightly formal shape to the outfit with a big print which made it more casual for me.  It ended up being extremely casual, but I still felt comfortable.  This cardigan is really on its last legs.  I've had it for, like 6 years and it has become very thin and a little ratty.  I still love it though.

Tomorrow Z is going to get his Christmas present.  The tattoo artist finally finished his arm piece and his going to get the outline tomorrow.  I'm sad that I can't go because I have class all day.  Oh well!  Enjoy the tune of the day!

I look in the mirror and all I see/Is a young old man with only a dream*

*She's Like the Wind by Patrick Swayze

I've been thinking long and hard on how to start this blog.  For months it has been stewing in my brain: what I want say, what I want to do, what I want to share.  In fact, I probably have almost a months worth of content stored up in my brain!  Truly my biggest problem was: how do is even start this thing?  I think I must do two things: 1. Jump into a the deep end and learn how to swim and 2. Just be myself.  So, while I want this to be a daily fashion blog to document my outfit choices I also want it to be a blog about my other passions movies and music.  So here's me jumping into the deep end trying to learn how to swim.

This dress is my Easter dress.  I bought it at Goodwill a few years ago and I'm actually pretty sure this was someone's housedress/mumu before I got my hands on it.  I really like this dress, but because of the color palate I feel like it's pretty much limited to Easter Sunday.  I'm sure it's just my own neuroses, but to me certain colors or patterns are limited to certain times of the year.  For example: I would never wear tartan plaid past December 31st, or this dress anytime past May.

Today is Easter Sunday and considering the fact that I am neither very religious or living close by to family I ended up spending the day alone.  Z is at work and the weather is muggy, overcast, and very windy, so I'm also spending the day indoors. My friend C posted on Facebook about having a bad day, but it was nothing that relaxing with a Disney movie couldn't fix.  It got me thinking about what my "go to" movies are.  A movie that cheers me up and makes me feel alright with the world.  Now that our short spring here in Texas is quickly turning into summer I'm feeling nostalgic for summer romances, swimming, and bonfires.  This immediately gets me in the mood for Dirty Dancing.  I have plenty of other "go to" movies for all the different moods I experience, but when the smell and feel of summer is just peaking it's head around the corner it's Dirty Dancing all the way.

By the way, Family Guy has forever ruined the ending to Dirty Dancing for me. Video: The realistic ending to Dirty Dancing

Anyway, I hope that everyone is having a wonderful holiday and I leave you with a few songs to download:
